Secretary-General of the al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance Movement:

US expulsion from the al-Qayyarah Air Base accelerates liberation of Mosul

The secretary-general of Iraq’s al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance Movement announced that Mosul would be liberated much faster if the United States withdrew from the Mosul operation and the Popular Mobilization Forces participated in the operation.

According to the Kayhan newspaper, Hujjat al-Islam Akram al-Kaabi, the secretary-general of Iraq’s al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance Movement, while expressing concern over the obstruction carried out in the operation to liberate Mosul, blamed the United States for the prolongation of the operation and said, “Indications and the military situation indicate that the operation has been prolonged and the presence of the Popular Mobilization Forces‎ in the context of this operation and the expulsion of the United States from the al-Qayyarah Air Base will accelerate the operation.”

The operation to liberate Mosul began on October 17, 2016, by order of Iraqi Prime Minister Haydar al-Abadi and has progressed dramatically but it has been reported for several days that the operation has slowed down. A few days after the start of the operation, it became clear that Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces could not be included in the Mosul operational forces. For this reason, the Popular Mobilization Forces have launched an operation against Daesh outside Mosul and in the northwest of Nineveh governorate and have taken Tal Afar airport out of the control of the Takfiris.

The secretary-general of al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance Movement said, “According to the previous plan, the Mosul operation was supposed to end by the end of 2016, but the American domination of the skies over Mosul and the American and Turkish insistence on the non-intervention of the Popular Mobilization Forces in the operation to liberate Mosul... has led to the delay of the final victory.”

Regarding the slow progress of the Iraqi armed forces in the operation to liberate Mosul, Falih al-Fayyadh, Iraq’s national security adviser and the chairman of the Popular Mobilization Forces, said, “The reason for the slow progress of the operation to liberate Mosul is the suffering of civilians. However, the situation is in favour of the Iraqi armed forces.”

Samantha Power’s speech against al-Nujaba

Samantha Power, the United States’ representative to the United Nations, claimed in a statement that forces affiliated with al-Nujaba were involved in brutal crimes in Aleppo. The remarks come as there is still debate over the departure of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (of which al-Nujaba is a part) to Syria. In addition, the joy of the people of Aleppo for getting rid of the terrorist occupiers in recent days has been the first news of the global and regional media.”
