The Secretary-General of al-Nujaba Explained:

US and Israeli activities in Iraq done under cover of civil affairs activities

 

Hujjat al-Islam al-Kaabi announced the undesirable activities of some American and Israeli-sponsored civil society organizations in Iraq at the Islamic Unity Conference.

 

According to the Communication and Media Affairs Centre of al-‎Nujaba in Iran, Hujjat al-‎Islam Akram al-Kaabi, the secretary-general of al-Nujaba, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the 33rd International Conference on Islamic Unity, held at the Leaders’ Hall in Tehran and described Imam Khomeyni’s intellectual and social movement as “the initiator of the awakening and unity of the Islamic ummah.”

His Eminence praised the principled and humane approach of the Islamic Republic to the issues of the Islamic world, especially the developments in Palestine, Yemen, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, and said, “If it was not for this glorious position, despite the colonialist besiegement of the United States and its allies, the fate of the Islamic world would have been exposed to terrible storms.”

He praised Iran’s unwavering assistance to the Iraqi people and noted, “We will not forget that when the world left us alone against Daesh and the Takfiri terrorists reached the gates of Baghdad, men from Iran came to our aid with a spirit of self-sacrifice and with each other’s help we were able to defeat the arrogant powers’ plot to divide Iraq.”

Pointing out that today Iraq is suffering from the most severe Zionist propaganda attacks and conspiracies, Hujjat al-‎Islam al-Kaabi added, “The Zionists and the Americans have never wanted stability in Iraq and have always sought to institutionalize division, violence and corruption.”

Regarding the current protests in this country, the senior commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces said, “Most of the protesters are peaceful and have legitimate demands, including liberation from American hegemony as a cause of corruption and looting of national wealth, reform and cleansing of institutions from the remnants of the Ba’athist regime.”

He continued, “But at the same time, another group is riding the wave in pursuit of the goal of colonialism. The American occupiers, the Zionists and their mercenaries in the Persian Gulf countries distorted the facts through media domination and deception and negatively affected the atmosphere of the protests. Their mercenaries also infiltrated the protesters and chanted deviant slogans to change the course of the protests.”

Hujjat al-‎Islam al-Kaabi criticized the United States’ encroachment on Iraqi national assets and noted, “Today, our oil is in the hands of the Americans and not a single drop of it is exported without the permission of their oil companies. Our assets are in American banks and the Iraqi government must beg for its approved budget from Washington. Power plants are affiliated with American companies and American companies are corrupting our economy.”

His Eminence added, “Now the Iraqi people have decided to manage their wealth themselves, and for this reason, the United States, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia are trying to push the country toward chaos by resorting to civil institutions, media and deviant religious movements to provide an opportunity to re-occupy Iraq under the pretext of confronting insecurity and insurgency.”

Regarding the suspicious performance of some civil society organizations, he noted, “We know very well that the United States and Israel have been engaged in cultural transformation since the occupation of Iraq. They set up these organizations to cover civil affairs activities and forced international organizations to send their aid only through these organizations.”

Hujjat al-‎Islam al-Kaabi added in this regard, “They also put the support of deviant religious movements, media and personalities on the agenda and tried to influence the religious authorities (sources of emulation) by attracting some seminarians.”

He then stressed the need for planning to counter the propaganda and cultural onslaught of the enemies and said, “Colonialist domination of the mass media and the internet has given theologians and extremists the upper hand and the opportunity to be more active. At the same time, despite the limitations, we must not overlook this capacity and have a duty to seek the right solution.”

At the end of this speech, Hujjat al-‎Islam al-Kaabi reiterated the need to strive for Islamic unity and avoid all kinds of division and clarified, “We must present the correct teachings of religion free from exaggeration, extremism, takfir, discrimination and prejudice in order to solve political, economic and social issues.”
