BBC correspondent angry about al-Nujaba’s acceptance of guardianship

A female BBC correspondent was angry at the close ties between Tehran and Baghdad and the popularity of Ayatollah Khamenei in several governorates of Iraq and sowed discord between the two nations.

According to the Communication and Media Affairs Centre of al-‎Nujaba in Iran, a BBC Persian correspondent reacted to billboards with a picture of Iran’s Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei] in the southern Iraqi governorate of Basrah on her personal Twitter page.

Nafiseh Kohnavard attached a picture of a billboard with the picture of Hujjat al-Islam Akram al-Kaabi, the secretary-general of the al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance group and Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei and wrote, “I do not remember seeing so many pictures of Mr. Khamenei in any city of this country [Iran] that I see them in every alley and street of Basrah.”

Angry with the acceptance of wilayah (guardianship) of the Iraqi Islamic Resistance groups, she provoked the minds of the Iraqi and Iranian people and sowed discord between the two people, adding, “For some Iranian commanders during the eight-year [Iran-Iraq] war, capturing the city was a major goal. Something that was not possible but now Iran’s presence can be seen everywhere in the city.”
